We’re excited to announce our newest bakery-cafe, opening this fall in Seattle’s Wedgwood neighborhood.
The new Grand Central Bakery Cafe will be at 7501 35th Avenue NE, in a classic brick building at the center of the commercial district along 35th Avenue.
Construction began in the second week of May. We hope to open by mid-October, earlier if possible, and we can’t wait to bring Grand Central’s freshly baked artisan breads, pastries, sandwiches and more to residents of Northeast Seattle.
As one of the Pacific Northwest’s original artisan bakeries, Grand Central Bakery helped fuel a bread revolution in Seattle in 1989 with its first hand-formed loaves, produced in our original Pioneer Square location. While much of Seattle knows our bread – Como! Rustic Baguettes! – we’re thrilled to open more bakery cafes in the city where we started almost 30 years ago.
Wedgwood is a residential neighborhood with a small commercial district two miles north and slightly east of the University of Washington. It will be our fourth Seattle location, joining Eastlake, Burien, and the original Pioneer Square location on 1st Avenue South. With a larger wholesale bread production space and commissary kitchen on S. Nevada Street, Grand Central now has extra production capacity to open new cafes in the Seattle area.
What to expect at Grand Central Bakery Wedgwood:
- A bright, beautiful space with clean lines, white tile and natural wood where customers can enjoy delicious food and a sense of community.
- Our full line of artisan breads, plus sandwiches, salads and pastries baked fresh daily made with the best local & sustainable ingredients.
- A dedicated parking lot, which Grand Central Bakery will share with our co-tenants Seattle Coin Shop and Wedgwood Barber Shop.
- An amazing location in the center of the Wedgwood business district surrounded by vibrant neighborhoods. The new bakery has great access to community services including the Burke Gilman trail, a Seattle Public Library branch and Post Office, schools and parks.
We’ll be adding 15-18 employees for the Wedgwood bakery, most of them full-time, and we expect to have additional openings in other areas (central kitchen, delivery) to support new growth.
Grand Central is committed to looking locally for great people who share our values and to growing leaders from within.
