A great solution for day-old bread, crostini are thin slices of
toasted bread ideal for a variety of spreads or delicious alone.
Ingredients:
1 baguette
1/3 cup olive oil
Preheat oven to 400F.
Slice the bread on an exaggerated diagonal to make long oval pieces.
Brush both sides of the bread slices with olive oil and spread
in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake until lightly golden
on both sides, but not hard - about 8 minutes. Allow the toasts
to cool to room temperature.
Makes approximately 30 crostini, depending on the length of the
baguette
