About Grand Central Pastry
The reason that so many customers share such a fondness for
our cinnamon rolls is simple. Like our artisan breads, Grand
Central pastries are made by hand, from scratch, and baked
on site at each location. Our customers crave food created with
no compromises - no mixes, no additives - just high-quality
ingredients and time-honored techniques.
In response, we stick to the basics - real butter, fresh fruit,
and natural flavorings. We fill our pies with local rhubarb
and make our piecrust with high quality European style butter.
We use excellent pure chocolate in our cookies and we grate
fresh orange zest by hand each day for our Irish Soda Bread.
These ingredients produce simple, rich and authentic flavor.
A pastry baker's day starts at 5am at their ovens, baking each
day's pastries for those happy early birds that arrive to eat them
warm with their lattes. Once this is completed they proceed to
prepare doughs for the following day's bake, toast nuts, slice fruits,
cook custards. At every stage of the bake, our bakers use their
sight, smell, touch and taste to evaluate the quality of our products.
It is this skilled application of knowledge that elevates our pastries
from the ordinary to the artisan.
